Walkers was approached to carry out the cleaning of the underside and topside of a sail-shaped structure which forms part of the roof of a major London hospital. Previous cleaning had always been completed via Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) but this caused significant disruption to the hospital, and the adjacent Euston Road which had to be partially closed to allow the cleaning operation.
The innovation and technical expertise of the Walkers’ teams allowed us to plan and execute the cleaning via Rope Access. This allowed our technicians to clean the difficult to reach areas safely and efficiently, with no impact on the hospital. In addition, as no access equipment needed to be hired, there was a significant cost reduction and no environmental impact.
The cleaning was carried out to a very high standard and the significant cost saving was passed on to our client.
